ABOUT ME
Amanda Linn Swanson is a traditional fine artist working primarily in oil paint, ink, charcoal, watercolors and printmaking. With a focus on Imaginative Realism, Amanda creates detailed narrative and allegorical art, featuring many natural elements such as forests, animals and human anatomy. Besidescreating fine gallery art, she has worked professionally in book illustration, concept art, portraiture, logo design, murals and scientific illustration.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Amanda hiked, skied, and sailed all across our beautiful coastline, and fell in love with the wondrous creation of the local forests. Drawing everything in sight, her interest in nature also led her into garden design and wildlife care. As an avid reader, novels and fairy tales also became a key inspiration for her artwork.
In 2013, Amanda moved to Osaka, Japan to assist a local church school in building an English class program for local children, and began learning about Japanese art, culture and community. She lived and worked there for the next 5 years, which became an inspiring and transformative experience for her as a person and an artist.
Amanda Linn has been very invested in local community college communities, earning an associates degree in Fine Arts at Everett Community College, and two more associates in Illustration and Video Game Design at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, followed by a BAS in Applied Art & Illustration. During this time she worked for the colleges as a studio techand assistant teacher, where she discovered her love of helping other artists learn and grow.
After returning from Japan and finishing her BAS, Amanda Linn started an LLC for her art, and is now working full time as an artist and art instructor in Snohomish County.
