Ceramic Open Studio Information and Policies

Our Open studio program is very flexible.   If there is no class running in the clay studio, you are welcome to come work.   We will post a monthly calendar on the website.

We are open from 9-9 Sat. - Sun.

  Program Details:

  • Members are expected to be able to work independently - no instruction is included in the membership fee.

  • Members will have 1 dedicated shelf and a small locker (limited availabilty for lockers. First come, first serve).

  • Members may work on their own making cycle schedules. They are not required to follow the class timeline that includes restrictions on the completion of wet work or glaze deadlines.

  • Members must purchase clay from BAC only. 25lb bags of clay are $40 which includes the fees for bisque and glaze firings and access to use the studio glazes, slips, stains, and minimal amounts of underglazes. Members who wish to decorate extensively with underglazes or use specific colors not a part of the studio palette must purchase their own.

  • Work made from studio clay will be fired along with the student work. Members may request approval to use alternate glazes, subject to review to ensure appropriate cone ranges are understood and followed.

  • NO OUTSIDE CLAY FIRED without Firing fee and approval.

  • Open Studio Time is shared by both members and students.

  • The membership fee is $150 plus sales tax, billed monthly.

  • BAC reserves the right to close open studios for special classes or workshops.

  • BAC reserves the right to refuse service. If a member is found to not be a good fit for the studio their membership will be canceled and refunded on a pro-rated basis. Potential reasons for cancellation include not following the rules and policies of the studio, or aggressive/rude behavior towards students or other members.
