The Summer Camp will be taking place all day on August 17 and August 18th. Your personalized schedule will be emailed once registered before camp.

Includes SIX 2 Hour classes in following:

POTTERY SESSION:

You will have 2 hours to explore the pottery wheel. You will have opportunity to center and make a piece of pottery

Teacher: Cynthia Knox

 

WELDING SESSION:

You will get to try a basic welding project that you will get to take home.

Teacher: Courtni Dore

 

JEWELRY SESSION:

Christina Bengston will introduce you to the butane torch and have opportunity to make a ring. This class will full fill the butane torch requirements for future classes.

 

ACRYLIC MIXED MEDIA PAINTING:

Joanne Schoener-Scott will lead you in a mixed media Acrylic Painting Class that you can take home.

 

ACRYLIC PAINT POUR:

Try your hand at Acrylic Paint Pour with Krisi Tate. You will have opportunity to make 2 painting to take home.

Extra: CAMPY ARTS AND CRAFTS:

Make your own t-shirt, make Lanyard keychain.

RAKU EXPERIENCE:

We will be having a Raku Firing on Saturday night. We will have some bisque pieces of pottery that you can use for this, or bring your own. All glaze and tools included. You are allowed to bring your own combustibles (Horse hair, pine needles…ect.) Only ONE piece per person.

  • 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Check in: Welcome, continental breakfast, camping set-up (if staying), pick up welcome packet.

  • 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Art Experience Session 1

  • 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Catered Buffett Style Lunch

  • 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Art Experience Session 2

  • 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Break/Snack

  • 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Art Experience Session 3

  • 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Catered Buffett Style Dinner

  • 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Raku Firing Experience

FAQ:

  • Can I Camp Overnight? YES, Tent camping spaces will be available for those that want to stay the weekend. Come in on Friday Night or Sat. Morning. No showers avail, and campfire is group site only. About 300 yards from Parking in Back meadow. Camping at own risk.

  • Can I choose NOT to Camp? YES, our activties are planned out so you can go home on Sat. Evening and come back Sun. Morning.

  • Ages allowed? This is a 18+ camp, no minors allowed.

  • Pets allowed? No, Sorry…we can not have additional pets on property for this event. However, there are 2 friendly golden retrievers, a few peacocks and maybe some friendly deer to visit with.

  • Parking? We have a few spots on site, if you are choosing to camp, we may ask you to move car to a neighbors farm and we will shuttle you to car when needed.

  • Friends in Same Session? We will be separating participants into small 4-6 people groups. On Sat. Morning you will get your “Camp Passport” with your schedule. When registering you can ask to be partnered with up to 4 people. We will do everything we can to keep you all together, however there maybe a session or two that you are not with all your friends. This is a small event with lot’s of opportunities to visit.

  • Do I have to participate in every session? NO, We will have an extra camp fun booth set up for those who have already learned one of the skilled sessions. No discount provided.

  • Is there breaks between sessions? YES, We will have an hour break between all sessions, for snacks, relaxing, camp fun and Meals.

  • Camping amentities? Tent Camping only, You must bring everything you need for camping. Sites will be set up in Meadow with trees all around at back of property, walk in only. No individual fires, group campfire available. Bring bug spray!

  • Catered buffet style meals: We will be providing 5 Catered meals: Sat (Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Dinner and Deserts) Sun. (Breakfast, Light Lunch). Once registered you can tell us about any allergies.

  • Alcohol/420 policy: We are looking into serving wine and beer to over 21 year olds, for additional fee. No outside Alcohol allowed on property. Alcohol/420 not allowed around open flame activities, and if abused can be asked to leave property and/or not participate in class sessions. We are not sure yet if this is an option and will keep you updated.

  • What to wear? Cotton clothes that can get messy. In welding, Jewelry, and Raku you are using fire….so dress appropriately—cotton and no shorts. Hair tied up and closed hole shoes.

  • What will I be making? In each class there will be a project for you to do. Teachers are coming up with great projects that will give you a sample of our class offerings here at Burkhead Art Center.

  • Can I sign up for one day? No, Unfortunately we don’t have this option. We have hired teachers to run all 5 sessions.

  • Cancellation Policy? No cancellations/refunds after July 25th at 6 PM. There will be a 5% cancellation fee up to July 25th (to cover credit card fees)
